Meet Our Leadership

Dr. Robert M. Buffum

After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Buffum was a Captain in the United States Air Force Veterinary Corp from 1972-1975, serving at Clark AFB in the Philippines. He was in charge of all civic action rabies control and food inspection. Dr. Buffum provided veterinary medical care for 110 sentry dogs, more than a hundred recreational riding horses, zoo animals at the Jungle Survival School, and Air Force personnel and their family pets (population 18,000). He was one of four veterinary officers for a staff of 35 enlisted. Since 1975, Dr. Buffum has been in private practice in California. He has been at Pet Medical Center since 1979 and has been an owner since 1982.

Dr. Buffum was President of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association in 1985. From 1980-1986, he served on the Board of Trustees of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association, which currently represents over 1,200 veterinarians in our area. He was also a member of the California Veterinary Medical Association House of Delegates from 1980-1986. Dr. Buffum participated in Veterinary Leadership Academy training in 2008. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Living Free Animal Sanctuary in Idyllwild, California.

I feel privileged to be in a profession where we almost uniformly meet people at their best.

Dr. Don Morshead

Dr. Morshead has been at Pet Medical Center since 1980 and has been an owner since 1983.

Along with being a board-certified specialist in surgery, he is also a member of Veterinary Management Group 6. He is a graduate of Veterinary Leadership Academy, Train the Trainer, and Ultimate Leadership Camp.

Leadership is a challenging role, especially in today’s rapidly changing environment. This is not something that can be accomplished alone. I have been blessed to have outstanding partners, Dr. Miller and Dr. Buffum, for over 20 years.

I cannot overemphasize the importance of having an excellent team. Teamwork is essential in order to be successful in business, patient care, and surgery (my specialty). I enjoy developing new leaders and I enjoy leading team meetings.
